Haikus for an Empty Church

Gothic edifice,

spires reaching up to the sky,

inside it's empty.

 

Gilt tabernacle

marble columns and flooring,

dusty wooden pews.

 

It's dark and quiet

I will ring the bell again,

it is getting late.

 

How long must I wait?

Must I ring the bell again?

It is getting late. 

 

Why do they not come?

I've spent my whole ministry

just to build this church.
